Low-temperature NIR-VUV optical constants of (001) LaAlO<sub>3</sub> crystal

The optical constants and dielectric function of (001) LaAlO 3 crystal were investigated at low temperatures down to 10 K in the NIR-VUV spectral range (photon energies 0.8-8.8 eV). Reflection variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry transmission spectroscopy applied. Interband transitions examined using Tauc plots critical-point analysis. At room temperature, indirect bandgap 5.6 ± 0.01 eV lowest-energy direct transition 7.2 0.03 detected. On cooling K, a blueshift ∼0.2 ∼0.1 was observed for transitions, respectively. In transparency range, index refraction found be nearly temperature-independent vary with photon energy from 2.0 (1 eV) 2.5 (5.5 It suggested that excellent thermal stability may related revealed thermally stable interband transitions. results are importance modeling design modern devices.
